Lacey "Misplaced Cajun" McCarthy

This week, Lacey (Nan's Daughter in Ohio) was contacted by the U L Lafayette Alumni Office to award a Cincinatti student a scholarship. I also included the letter she emailed the Alumni office with the pictures.

Hi John,
Wow, what a wonderful event. I'm so grateful that I got the opportunity to represent the University in this capacity. It means so much to this "misplaced" Cajun.

Megan is actually a native "Lafayette" girl. Her family moved to Ohio 14 years ago, and her dad is a USL alumni. She was very excited to have a University of Louisiana representative. Please know I'm not speaking for her, just expressing what one of her teachers expressed to me after the ceremony. Even after 14 years of being away from Lafayette you really can't take the "Cajun" out of a person. She was just as joyful and full of life as every other Cajun I know. I was able to meet her family, and am excited to report that her younger sister intends to become a Ragin Cajun next year when she graduates from high school. Hopefully there will be one more opportunity to show my Ragin Cajun pride at Amelia High School next year.

Once again thank for the opportunity to represent my pride for the University of Louisiana!
