Visit to the Houston, Texas Theriots

For the week of Jan 17th thru the 21st, Katie and Nan (Pierre's daughters) visited with some of the Theriot cousins in Houston. We were bringing Aunt Sis to visit with us for the week but she fell sick the night before we left.
1 & 2) First day, spent the afternoon with Mel's (Uncle Shine's daughter) family. That night went to Shogun's, a Japanese Hibachi restaurant. Highlights were eating raw tuna and shushi roll, called a shaggy dog. Pictured are Mel, David (husband), Claire (daughter), Katie, Dawn (family friend) and Nan.
3) On Tuesday, we visited Jamie, one of Lacey's friends and her two kids. Pictured Katie, Mia, Nan & Jake.
4) In the afternoon, we cooked crawfish etouffee. We spent the evening playing gin rummy, teaching Claire and Mel how to play Booray, and a dice game, Left, Right, Center. Of course, our appetizer was cracklins.
5) On Wednesday morning, Claire and I walked to a local mall, felt like 5 miles. Mel took the afternoon off and came with us to midtown Houston. Pictured are Jude (Uncle Jack's son) and Mel on our way to the Metro Rail. Our walking tour took us to the Morgan Chase tower, the tallest building in Houston. We rode to the 60th floor by elevator to see the skyline of Houston. Then we walked to the Jesse Jones hall for Performing arts. Next to Discovery Park.
6) Pictured is the University of St Thomas chapel for our riding tour. We also visited the Menil Collection for the Dan Flavin Installation at Richmond Hall. We visited the Byzantine Fresco Chapel, a 13th century fresco. We rode thru Rice University and River Oaks, which is a richer neighborhood than Catahoula. We might have seen George Bush in a lime green jacket riding a bike. We're not sure?????
7) We went to supper at an Italian restuarant, Michelangelo's. Pictured is Andrew (Jude's partner) , Jude, Nan, Katie and Mel.
8) Jude pictured with his signature Pootail drawing. His collection will be in a show in Houston Feb 26.
9) On Thursday morning, we visited with Karen (Uncle Howard's daughter). On Thursday afternoon, Katie and I toured Nasa. Pictured is Katie next to the one of the shuttles loaned to Nasa for display by the Smithsonian.
10) Thursday evening we had supper with Karen, Debra and Glenn (Aunt Sis's son and daughter in law) at Poppa's, a seafood restaurant in Webster.
On Friday, Katie and I visited Kemah Boardwalk and Galveston. Then headed home. Great week with lots of lovely memories.

Pierre's Fathers Day Celebration & Joe's Concert

On Saturday, June 19, 2010, some of the Pierre Theriot family went to the New Orleans Gay Men's Chorus (NOGMC) show in Baton Rouge. Katie met us there to celebrate Fathers Day with dad. We were able to spend time with Joe, our brother in law. Disco Days was the name of this seasons show. It featured music from the 70's; including songs by Elton John, TV themes (All in the Family, etc), Disco Medley's, and the Carpenters. One of our favorites was the "Family" arrangement which included Lean on Me, United We Stand, I'll Be There and We Are Family. The finale included a medley of songs from the Village People. After a standing ovation at the end, they then performed YMCA as an encore. Everyone was on their feet singing and dancing along, even mom and dad. It was a good time and Joseph would have enjoyed it.

Nan's Little Grandbaby Girl, Kynnedi

Today, I went to Angel Prints with Todd (my son) and Gabby (my daughter in law). It is a 4D imaging of the baby. The first one is her smiling to grandma (me). The second one she is sucking her thumb. The third one she is sending grandma a kiss or maybe she's just yawning. I guess it depends on who you talk to.

Joe's Christmas Concert

On December 19, 2009 we attended the New Orleans Gay Mens Chorus (NOGMC) Christmas concert. Joe, our brother in law, has been a member for many years. On Friday night they performed at the University of New Orleans Performing Arts Center. Katie attended that show. On Saturday night, they performed at the Unitarian Church in Baton Rouge. We attended that performance. Songs performed included some old time favorites; Joy to the World, Angels We Have Heard On High, Silent Night, Silver Bells, etc. The performance was outstanding. We left with Christmas songs going thru our minds.

Hannah's Big Night

On last Saturday, Hannah Vincent, Sue and Ricky's Daughter, Pierre and Iva's granddaughter, performed in a L J Alleman production of Alice in Wonderland. She had 2 parts. She sang with the chorus, then played small Alice. It was very entertaining and she did an awesome job. Yellow roses were presented to her after the performance
