Luke writes, "A couple of pics from my trip to Minnesota over Christmas. Went to where the Mississippi River starts. The water is a lot colder and clearer where it starts at Lake Itasca. (1)
The rocks I'm on separate Lake Itasca and the beginning of the Miss. River. (2) Bethany (my girlfriend) and I at the marker for the Mississippi River Headwaters. (3) Crossing the river on a log. Would've walked across if it weren't -5 degrees F! (4) Fish huts for ice fishing on Lake Bemidji. The Miss. River is dammed here and that creates the lake, so technically those fish huts are on the Miss. River. Quite different than fishing the bayous and the basin."
