Donna and Shane attended. They are located in the first picture on the right side of the wharf. Donna explained it was a gathering of putt putters who got together on the bayou teche in patterson to honor one of our older members that was gettin weak. Mr. Earnest Felterman died on Wednesday the 14th, following this GREAT day which was on Sat. Oct. 10, 2009. He just wanted 1 last Party!
This is the article that appeared in the Morgan City Newspaper, The Daily Review.
MEMBERS OF THE Bayou Old Time Engine Association
gathered at the Felterman Warehouse in Patterson on Saturday
to compare notes and show off equipment. The organization
consists of members from south Louisiana that enjoy
restoring old engines, several of which are in old-fashioned
“putt-putt” bateaus (given the name for the sound their
engines make). Brothers F.C. “Butch” and Ernest Felterman
of Patterson hosted the gathering along the Lower
Atchafalaya River where approximately 10 putt-putts were
on display. According to member David Prejean of Addis, he
and four other members own original putt-putt bateaus.
Club member Orie Mendoza of Plaquemine has used his
hobby of boatmaking to replicate craft the boats for about
18 fellow members. Prejean, forefront in lower photo, and
Mendoza, took the boats for a spin. The Feltermans treated
their guests to a buffet of jambalaya, red beans and rice.
