Dear Family,
Please note the lady stopped her oxens--which is difficult to do--where she had just harvested cassava for the day's meal; placed her hands in a prayer manner to accept--or hope to accept--the blessings of the elder who are traveling with. i was told it is a local custom. I took another picture as the oxen went by and of course kids always make great pictures, doesn't matter how poor.
I also saw a young girl at the coop office later do the same and she even bowed down to this elder.
Before this picture, had just visited a village called San Pedro that has little water due to drought and somepeople are traveling up to couple of miles to a river bottom to search for water on foot. No vehicles in this area; few bicycles. St Peter needs to help his village!
Just a reminder folks; this type of living that I see around the world as I travel should make most people humble--it does me--and to hear our complaints back home is a farce!! And yet , these people will tell me that God has been good to them. And, one out of three babies doesn't make it to one year.
Amen, brothers and sisters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Almost forgot. Am in Paraguayan bush country; 104 yesterday and no air conditioning or fan.
Just blowing off steam;
yours truly,
Jackie

We are all blessed to have you sharing these travels and stories with us. It does create a frame of reference for us and humble us to the goodness of the Lord. We just take time to count our blessings more often; not just at Thanksgiving.
Peace out,
Karen (Kay)
